Catching a Greenling in Canada
Last summer I was fishing in my dad s inflatable zodiac off the coast of Quadra Island, BC Canada. My big brother Tyler and my other brother Stewart were there too. The water was choppy that day but not enough to stop me from fishing. I caught a 4 long kelp greenling and it was so heavy I was having trouble reeling it up. The boat was not moving much except for the fact that it was being towed away by the fish. It must have weighed 15 pounds! It came up to the side of the boat but the boat was so crammed that no one could reach the net right away. My older brother Tyler said wow what a big fish for an 8 year old. When we finally got the net, we got a big surprise &.it didn t fit in the net! The fish got loose from the hook and swam away but I still got fish for dinner because my even younger brother caught one earlier that day. Kelp greenling is good to eat. It is called greenling because the meat is a greeny blue and it tastes really good. I have caught so many fish since then I could probably feed 12 people with all the fish I caught.
